Most of us hate change but change is coming! The old adage “adapt or die” is truer now than it has ever been.

Consider for North America:

  • Smartphones easily are the most favored mobile device with consumers reaching 85% usage.
  • Users are viewing their Smartphones more often than ever before, on average 52 times per day.
  • Smartphones are the preferred mobile device for most online activities among all consumer and business users.
  • More than 1/3 of adults report using their smartphones “very/fairly often” outside of working hours and WOW 59% use their personal Smartphones during working hours “very / fairly often”.
  • In 2018, 52% of all website traffic was generated on handheld smartphones.
  • 92% of all adults between the ages of 18-29 own a smartphone (as of June 2019)
  • Adults between the ages of 18-29 stand out in their social media consumption with 94% of users on YouTube, 80% on Snapchat and 72% on Instagram.

The message is clear, in the last 5 years the growth in the utilization of Smart Phones for nearly ALL communications is unprecedented.

In order to communicate with our emerging (eg. that younger sustaining generation) target audience we have to become very good at communicating using their chosen media in a format that is consistent with their device and at a time that is convenient to them (that is all the time).

Some strategies that you can use :

  • get active in social media to get your message across
  • consider creating and supporting an APP for your products and services
  • get online with payments and applications as best your business will allow
  • make it easy for users to obtain information, submit service requests, edit profiles, pay online, and seek guidance and assistance.
